Recently I have spent some time away on the beautiful Mid North Coast of NSW. One night we went out for dinner overlooking the beautiful Wallis Lake at sunset.
This is the view that we had up the lake. I just love how the reflections play on the water.
OK so what's good about this photo? I believe I have a focal point in the buildings, the eye is instantly drawn there, and then is take out into the remainder of the photo by the lines of the shore. There is also a contrast happening in colour from the blue/grey to the peach. That focal point is on that 1/3 position too which I am getting better at using.
All in all I am happy with this one. One of my favourite places to be.

Sunrise
The first thing I grabbed was the iPad, and of course it wasn't turned on. I was more thinking about sharing these colours with the world than getting a good shot.
I had to wait for the iPad to boot before I could even take a photo, but by waiting I got more colour.
For an iPad photo it's not too bad. The composition is there, I have got the 1/3 - 2/3 thing happening, there is some contrast between the black shadows and the gold sun peeping through, the sun is a focal point. I wonder what i would have got if I had of picked up the camera instead?
