Colour Gradients

Using the same begonia photo as before, this time I played with a colour gradient using similar colours to those in the original photo. I also played with the text aspect, getting the text colours to blend in with the colours of the photo. I am happy with this one & would definitely use it for something.

Photo Play

Last year I had a play with one of my photos in Photoshop.

First the original photo of my red begonia.

Then 3 more where I have added layers of texture, colour gradients and all kinds of wonderful stuff.

Sometimes I like to use photos as backgrounds to my textile work, so being able to manipulate them to what I want is great fun. Playing with colour gradients, layers, textures & stamps can create some interesting effects. Not sure I would want to use any of these for anything in particular but it's been interesting learning .

Texture

Texture plus! The rough old bark of the lateral of my climbing rose, plus the thorns of course.

Head Down B.... Up

That's exactly how I was to get this one & I'm proud of it. The 2/3 thing is going on, there is dominance & focus in the flower.

Anyone who knows these little Australian Native Violets will know that they only grow about 10cm high.

Seed Pod

OK, I feel that the overall lines are good. Starting at the bottom, the eye travels up & out diagonally, creating interest, & finally resting on the seeds in the pod. The seeds in the pod are the only things in focus though, something I have to work on.

Walkway

Not sure what I was trying to achieve with this one, possibly lines leading to a focal point. I wonder what lies beyond?

Sunrise

A little later than sunrise, but still early. This one is over the great Pacific Ocean.

I think I have achieved balance, harmony & dominance.

Tranquility

Well, it's been a while, I haven't even been back to the photography forum for a while. I have been practicing though, & over the next little while I'll show you some of my better shots from my holiday back in March. The main thing I was practising on was content, trying to get the lines right.

I think I achieved something right with this one. It has balance, harmony, and I think dominance with the tree & the sun. The position of the tree seems to be just right too, just off to one side to make more interest.

What does everyone else think
