Cool & Calming

Ah............. my favoutite colours of all time! That would be the main reason why I love this pic, the cooling colours of the beach. There are also the curved lines that take the eye from one point to another, in this case from the river mouth to the headland 11 kms south. There is also the harmony of colour & line, & the peace & restfulness of horizontal direction.

This is the same beach as the last two pics, this time in it's entirety, and taken from the northern end a few years back. In the foreground is the mouth of the river, with the beach stretching south all the way to the headland where I took yesterday's shot.

Mother Nature may have taken the sand away for now, but I am sure she will give it back again soon.

The Beach That Was

Just another view of my favourite beach as it used to be,  taken from the headland. If you look closely around the center of the pic, you can just see the walkways onto the beach from the park behind the sand dune. It was from the end of one of these walkways that I took yesterday's pic. Note the level of the trees, the distance between trees & water, the fact that they are vertical & not horizontal, and also the amount of sand. All much different than yesterday's pic. Oh what a difference a storm or two makes.

Twilight Time

One of my favourite beaches at twilight. The sad part is there was no beach, the currents & tides over the last twelve months or so have taken the beach away. High tide now brings the water right up to the sand dunes, &  is slowly eroding  them away to the point that the trees are falling into the water. Mother Nature at work.

I love this pic though & was happy at how it turned out. Not sure why, I think it is the monochramic colour, the way the flash light plays on the leaves of the she oak tree, and maybe the fact that most lines radiate out from that central point on the left.
